Off we go…again!!! this is actually our 3rd straight weekend cebu tour just this month.
After our friday shift (saturday morning), around 7:45am, we left cebu city and headed to Hagnaya port in the town of San Remegio, Cebu. Considering i haven’t slept for over 15 hours already (awake since around 4pm friday), we drove a bit slower this time. This is our first time driving to Hagnaya port but our tour drivers have been here lots of times already. It took us approximately 2 hours and 45minutes but according to my most experienced tour driver who have been picking up tourists here in Hagnaya port, it will only take him 2 hours and 15 minutes tops. We arrive at the port just in time for the boat trip to santa fe, bantayan island, cebu. We we’re actually the last one to embark the boat. Boat trip took approximately an hour and half then drove to the resort where we had our reservations. OOpppsss sorry… i forgot, we did not go straight to the resort. we stopped by at a carenderia at the town proper to grab lunch. It was already past 12:00NN.
The Budyong Beach Resort in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island, Cebu
After lunch we then proceeded to Budyong Resort. This resort is not as beautiful as the famous Kota, Anika and Santa Fe Beach club (based on what we saw on the net) resorts but you will surely be amazed with the wide area of white sand beach and the native cottages. We rested their for hhhmmmmm…. i think less than 2 hours. Then someone from the resort approached us offering island hopping to Virgin Island. I then discussed it with the group and everyone was excited. All of them knows about this island but me. They even know that there was a movie filmed at that island —CAMP SAWI.
The Virgin Island in Bantayan, Cebu
Just few minutes before 3PM, the boat was ready to pick us up. It took around 45 minutes to get to the Virgin Island (the boat we used was a bit slower and a bit old). Wow!!! that’s the first word that came out to my mouth even we were around 300 meter away from the coast line. Words will never be enough to describe the beauty of the place. The least I can say is AMAZING!!!. Wide area of white sand beach, with rock formations on the sides and they have a snorkeling area too with so many fishes of different species.
We departed at the island at around 4:45PM. Yeah i know it was just a short stay but nevertheless, we did have a great time there. After we return to budyong Resort, the whole team and my kids continued swimming at the resorts beach while me and my wife left to grab something for dinner. There were lots of sea foods available at almost any restaurants at the town proper but sad to say, we were on a tight budget so we stick to barbecues and hanging rice (“puso”). But just in case you prefer to do grilling of either pork or fish, you can buy fresh pork and fish at the market then grill it at the resort.
After dinner, we grabbed some beers and some junk foods and brought it to the beach. I haven’t seen much people at the resort prior to our island hopping adventure but I was surprised seeing lots of them bringing food and drinks at the smaller cottages beside the coastline at that hour. If I am not mistaken, there were around 11 or 12 groups there and 1 group beside us, probably the biggest, was from a call center in Makati City.
Since I have been awake since the day before the trip and it has been around 30 hours already, I left the group after a couple of beers and rested at our room.
